Our History
Our business was founded by Turkish businessman, Ufuk Caner, when he started with his first shipment of Travertine Tiles to South Africa in 2006. Now, in partnership with his brother, Sureyya Caner, who runs the Australian operation, the two brothers have taken the stone world by storm.
This means that we are a well-established and trusted family-owned business with 16 years of experience in SA, Turkey, and Australia. We own two Marble quarries in Turkey, one of which is the famous Atlantic Grey Marble, which we offer EXCLUSIVELY to Artmar customers around the world. We also own a Travertine quarry in Turkey which means that we can offer you trusted advice as we are experienced in all aspects of Natural Stone from nature to your door.

What you should also know about us is that our company is backed by a multinational footprint, which means that we have global purchasing power from 4 continents and 10 countries around the world. As a result of this, we can offer you the best quality products at the most competitive pricing, making us the market leader in South Africa. This also means that we can maintain an extensive stock holding within South Africa (holding an average of 100 000m² of natural stone products at any point in time).

Our subsidiary, Artmersan Mining Pty LTD, based in Turkey, adds to the essence of our acclaimed company. Through our subsidiary, we also own a 20 500m² producing factory in Denizli, Turkey, and our own quarries. Therefore we fully understand the process from nature to your door. We have been recognised as Turkey’s Aegean region’s 2nd largest exporter of natural stone products in 2019.
