Porcelain Tiles
What is the difference between porcelain tiles and natural stone tiles?
Porcelain tiles are a manufactured product that are created to mimic the look of natural stone tiles. To the untrained eye, some high quality versions, like ours, look and feel incredibly like natural stone. However, the expert will be able to distinguish the difference. Porcelain floor tiles are not individually unique like the travertine, marble, granite and other natural stone tiles that we have in our range. However, these manufactured tiles are more resistant to moisture than natural stones. This is because they lack pores, making these tiles perfect for wet areas. Natural stone tiles, in contrast, are a porous material.
Characteristics
Recommended for indoor floors and walls, porcelain tiles are ideal for a number of reasons. Firstly, they are highly resistant against chipping and scratching. Therefore, they are well suited for places that endure heavy traffic – this includes hallways, kitchen floors, and commercial applications. Secondly, they are more inexpensive than natural stone tiles. This means that you can achieve a look that mimics natural stone. However, as mentioned, nothing quite compares to the unique, durable and timeless character of natural stone.
