Limestone Tiles
Both sandstone and limestone are sedimentary natural rocks. Similarly, they are both made of soluble calcium minerals. However, while limestone is formed over millennia in subterranean water systems and in the beds of ancient oceans, sandstone is shaped from the breakdown of larger rock over time. Like our sandstone tiles, our limestone tiles make a unique decorative statement in a variety of settings, and for a variety of uses too.
History
Popular in the medieval period for the construction of castles, forts and cathedrals (many of which stand today), limestone has been a workhorse as a reliable building material for thousands of years. While rugged and durable, limestone stone tiles have a refined beauty all of its own. This natural stone gained popularity as a flooring tile and for use in outdoor facades, lending an old-world appeal to residences and commercial property much in the same way as its close cousin, the travertine tile.
