Choosing natural stone tiles for your bathroom will not only elevate your design but also add value and timeless style to your home.

Your first decision is the type of natural stone tile. At Artmar you can choose from a large range of Marble, Granite, Travertine and even Slate tiles for your bathroom floors and/or walls. Each of them give a unique style and design so make sure to consider this with your colour palette, design style and bathroom accessories that you wish to use. (images attached)

As granite and slate are already dense stone types, it’s easy to buy and install from the showroom to your home.

When choosing marble tiles, it’s important to choose either a honed or polished finish as this creates the least porous surface which is important in your bathroom.

The most popular finish of marble, polishing, gives the stone a highly reflective sheen that produces the least porous finished surface. This finish gives the stone of very elegant and rich look, providing it with a pinnacle of depth and colour.

Whereas a honed finish is created by buffing the stone to slightly less than the highest level. The result is a smooth but more natural appearance, with no shine. Also very popular in more modern design installations that desire a more matt finish.

Lastly, travertine is known for its long streaks and consistent colour. Since it has a fibrous, marble-like texture and attractive earthy tones, it is one of the most popular affordable natural stone tiles to use in homes and bathrooms.

For travertine tiles, we recommend a filled and honed tile. This is when the porous holes in the travertine are filled with a mixture of hardener and dust by-products, from the cutting and honing process. After that, it is honed which gives them a flat, satin-smooth, low shine, and matte finish.
